We stayed in a preferred club oceanfront swim out junior suite. We love Cabo, just have to find a new resort chain. Now before anyone from the resort apologizes, your folks in the preferred club lounge had 3 chances to make it better and missed. While the resort itself was beautiful and well taken care of, the rest of the stay left us very disappointed. My wife and I stayed at the Marquis 5 years ago when it was part of Secrets and were excited to return to the new Puerto Los Cabos. We estimated at least 50% bought while we were here. If you want a great all inclusive vacation try other resorts where they do not snake in proven sales tactics for the uneducated shopper. In retrospect I should have spent a few hundred more to find a club with beach access. I am pretty sure it is due to the lack of repeat visitors considering some of the mentioned items. I came via Costco and the price point was great. It may just be the demographics of this club. People tended to keep to themselves which I found odd. For some reasons there seemed to be a lack of interaction among most guest. One more thought, this is a couples resort, but it was not the romantic destination I was hoping. Many of the guests we spoke to said they would not choose this resort over the other secrets they have visited. I would not visit this resort again which is sad due to the humble and friendly staff that work very hard making this a place to enjoy. It may be a few hundred dollars more But the beach is worth the price. But if you have one week of time to reconnect you should know there are better choices. So a dip in the pacific to cool off and get a couple feet away from your Neighboring guests makes it another “first world problem”. Which is quite sad when the hot August days elevate the pool to temperatures that are uncomfortable due to the overheated water. Extreme rip currents are clearly visible exclaiming stay out. All the days we were here the black flag was up. The heavy surf makes the possibility of cooling off in the beautiful clear pacific near impossible. The main dining room and the Mexican fiesta both had delightful choices of food. The food prep is great but the seasoning kills most of the flavor by overpowering it with sweat unmatched heavy sauces. The common areas are spotless, the maid service and turn down service all at 4.5 star ratings. Third floor and up garden rooms have an amazing clear view of the golf course framing the un hospitable pacific. The resort at Cabo San Jose has an amazing staff, clean rooms and a view that makes you happy you got the “garden room” with an ocean view. You pay 3,000 dollars And they ask you to pay 20,000 more. The secret is out, they do an amazing job on their time share sales pitch upon arrival.
